Camfrog Voice Chat for iPhone has been available for several days now in the Apple App Store.  Please download Camfrog Voice Chat if you haven’t already.  There are a few other interesting things you can do with our iPhone app that you may not have realized.

Camfrog iPhone Tips

1.  Settings – To get to the Camfrog Voice Chat settings go to your iPhone settings, then scroll down to where it says “Voice Chat”.

2.  Allow Screen Dimming – Are you tired of the Camfrog screen always dimming while you are chatting?  You can stop all screen dimming while using Camfrog.  Please note you may use more battery power while using this setting.

3.  Incoming Message Sounds – You can turn incoming instant message sounds on and off.

4.  Phone Mode - Do you want to talk to your friend privately via audio chat but you don’t want everyone in the room to hear?  Switch to phone mode and you can speak to your friend just like when you are talking on the phone.  The audio will work through the normal phone speaker and microphone.  Once this setting is on hold the phone to your face normally like you would with a normal phone call.

This new free Camfrog mobile voice chat software for iPhone allows you to register a Camfrog nickname or logon to your current nickname.  You can also IM your friends, voice chat privately with your contacts, voice chat in large voice chat rooms with lots of users, and browse the Camfrog user directory and message other users.

Some of you may ask why we have no video chat.  If the voice chat version is used by a lot of people and we receive a positive response we will probably add a one-on-one video feature, then consider adding a video chat room feature.  For now though we are still figuring out the most efficient way to add video to a small mobile screen and still stay within Apple App Store guidelines.

Some rooms that don’t allow users with webcams will not currently allow Camfrog Voice Chat mobile users, but we plan to add a setting to Camfrog Server in the future so you can allow in mobile users if you want.

We are excited to announce Camfrog Voice Chat 1.0 for the iPhone has been submitted to the Apple App Store.

Our Camfrog Voice Chat 1.0 version allows you to see your contact list, IM your friends, send snapshots, voice chat privately, join chat rooms, and voice chat and listen in chat rooms.  I have been voice chatting in the chat rooms over the past few months testing and it’s really fun, plus it even works over 3G and Edge.

Why no video? We decided to release this first app version as soon as possible then if it’s popular and gets good feedback we will consider adding private one on one video, then maybe eventually chat room video.  We’ll keep you updated and let you know when the app is accepted and available to download via the Blog!

Hello Windows Users,

Camfrog Client 5.5.236 for Windows is now available for Download.

This software updated uses our new Camfrog video viewing and broadcasting technology.  This new video technology allows you to view more video windows with significantly less CPU usage and it also gives us an opportunity to further improve our video technology more and more as time goes by.

This new client gives us an exciting foundation on which we can improve and we’re now working hard on our completely new 6.0 client software with a new user interface, website, and more.  Thank you for using Camfrog and we hope you enjoy this new version.

Hello Camfrog Mac users.

Today we released a new version of Camfrog Client for Mac OS X.  This new release uses our brand new video streaming and viewing technology with higher quality video and less CPU usage. On top of this new exciting video technology we also fixed a lot of bugs that Mac users reported by going to the “Camfrog Video Chat” menu and choosing “Generate File for Technical Support”.  Thank you for helping make Camfrog Mac a rock solid application.

We tried our best to continue support for Power PC with this new client but unfortunately it was not technically possible due to our new video technology.  If you have a Power PC Mac and you ordered Camfrog Mac within the last 90 days please contact the helpdesk and we can refund your money.

Please note that Camfrog Mac and Windows Pro codes are the same so you can use the code on your Windows computer, or with a virtual machine if you don’t want to stop using Camfrog.  You can also use the Pro code with any Intel Mac.

If you experience any technical problems with this new client please go to the Camfrog Video Chat menu and generate a file for our support team.

Download Camfrog 2.1.3064 (Mac) – Change List

It is urgent all room owners upgrade their Camfrog Server software to the newest versions by March 15th or your room will be unable to sign on to Camfrog.

This simple upgrade is required because we are switching to a new higher quality video system and all servers/clients must be upgraded to see the video quality improvements and CPU usage decreases.

IMPORTANT:  Some room owners seem to think they must switch to Camfrog Advanced Server to avoid the block.  This is false!  You can continue to use our basic Camfrog Server software as usual, just upgrade to Camfrog Server version 4.3. We will continue to support and update Camfrog Server indefinitely.  Camfrog Advanced Server is a completely different product made for sophisticated users who host many rooms on one server.

Please download and upgrade your server by following one of the links below.

Camfrog Server 4.3 for Windows is now available for download.  This new server software has been updated to use our new and improved video streaming technology, plus it also has been optimized to work more efficiently on your server.

If you run a Camfrog server it’s urgent you upgrade to our new Camfrog Server or Camfrog Server Advanced software by March 11th or your server may no longer be able to sign on to our system. The reason we have to do this is due to our upgraded video technology for Camfrog clients that uses less CPU but has higher quality video.  Please upgrade your server software as soon as possible so your rooms will run normally starting in March and beyond.  We think you’ll be happy with the new higher quality video.

Camfrog Server Advanced 5.0 for Windows and Linux is now available for download.  This new server software version is made especially for users who host a large number of rooms on one server.  You can now also manage your rooms and servers remotely using our new advanced software without having to logon to your remote server.  On top of all these changes this new software also supports changing server ports while users are in the room where no users are affected.

Please note that if you are not a fan of this advanced server version you are welcome to use our basic Windows Camfrog Server software that we will continue to support indefinitely.  This advanced Camfrog server software is a completely new product made especially for advanced users with multiple rooms and it will not ever replace our basic Camfrog Server software.

Camfrog Bot 5.0 for Windows and Linux are now available for download. To start downloading the application you will need a Bot serial number.

These new versions of our Bot software allow you to run multiple bots in one simple new interface, call and post RSS feeds, a new more advanced plug-in system and more. Please check out our new Bot help page to learn how to use the new software.

Camfrog Server BETA 5.0 is now available for download.  This new Camfrog server version has a totally new interface that allows you to host an almost unlimited number of video chat rooms from your server.  You no longer have to run multiple versions of Camfrog Server to run multiple video chat rooms.

You can also now manage your rooms and servers remotely using our new software without having to logon to your remote server.

Switching ports on Camfrog Server startup is now easy and it won’t cause problems with the users already in your room.  As an added bonus, our early alpha testers have reported that this new software version uses even less CPU and resources than our old server.

Please download Camfrog Server 5.0 BETA and give us your feedback.  Please keep in mind this is a BETA release and not a final release.
