Camfrog 6.0 for Windows is now available for download.

This new client has an all new UI,  HD high resolution video for one-on-one connections, audio echo cancellation, video and audio snapshots, full screen one-on-one video, and improved video quality.  This 6.0 version is also ready for our new audio modes that will be available with our new Camfrog Server software.  We hope to release new Camfrog Server versions with new audio modes and a new Mac version soon.

We have also updated our Camfrog Video Chat website to work with this new software version.

So far the early feedback we have seen has requested that we bring back the ability to change font sizes and colors again, and the ability to add your favorite rooms to your contact list instead of the internal video chat room list.  You can add your favorite rooms to your contact list by right clicking your contact list and choosing “show rooms”.

We are considering bringing back font changes for rooms and IM messages.  Please continue to give us your constructive feedback so we can continue to improve our software.

Download Camfrog 6.0 (Windows) – Change List

Camfrog Video Chat for iPad and iPhone are now both available for purchase in iTunes.  Both apps allow you to join Camfrog Video Chat rooms for audio chat, or video chat one-on-one privately with your friends.  Obviously the iPad doesn’t yet have a webcam, but you can still view your iPhone and Camfrog desktop application friends one-on-one.

If the apps are popular and get good reviews we’ll try to add room video chat also.  Room video chat uses a lot of CPU so we are still working to try to make it possible on a mobile device.

Camfrog Voice Chat 2.0 for iPhone is now available for download.  This new version is updated for iPhone 4′s retina display, iOS 4 multi-tasking, plus multiple UI improvements.

Camfrog Mac 2.1.3070 is now available for download. This new Camfrog software version fixes some problems some Camfrog users were having including upside down video for some users and more.

If you experience any crashes or major problems with this new client version please go to the “Camfrog Video Chat” menu and choose “Generate file for technical support”.

Hello Windows Users,

Camfrog Client 5.5.236 for Windows is now available for Download.

This new software version has a new simplified installer, a new way of logging on to Camfrog.com that is more efficient, plus several bug and security fixes.  We recommend all Camfrog Windows users upgrade as soon as possible.

Camfrog Bot 5.0.42 for Windows and 5.0.20 for Linux are now available for download. To start downloading the application you will need a Bot serial number.

Camfrog Voice Chat for iPhone has been available for several days now in the Apple App Store.  Please download Camfrog Voice Chat if you haven’t already.  There are a few other interesting things you can do with our iPhone app that you may not have realized.

Camfrog iPhone Tips

1.  Settings – To get to the Camfrog Voice Chat settings go to your iPhone settings, then scroll down to where it says “Voice Chat”.

2.  Allow Screen Dimming – Are you tired of the Camfrog screen always dimming while you are chatting?  You can stop all screen dimming while using Camfrog.  Please note you may use more battery power while using this setting.

3.  Incoming Message Sounds – You can turn incoming instant message sounds on and off.

4.  Phone Mode - Do you want to talk to your friend privately via audio chat but you don’t want everyone in the room to hear?  Switch to phone mode and you can speak to your friend just like when you are talking on the phone.  The audio will work through the normal phone speaker and microphone.  Once this setting is on hold the phone to your face normally like you would with a normal phone call.

This new free Camfrog mobile voice chat software for iPhone allows you to register a Camfrog nickname or logon to your current nickname.  You can also IM your friends, voice chat privately with your contacts, voice chat in large voice chat rooms with lots of users, and browse the Camfrog user directory and message other users.

Some of you may ask why we have no video chat.  If the voice chat version is used by a lot of people and we receive a positive response we will probably add a one-on-one video feature, then consider adding a video chat room feature.  For now though we are still figuring out the most efficient way to add video to a small mobile screen and still stay within Apple App Store guidelines.

Some rooms that don’t allow users with webcams will not currently allow Camfrog Voice Chat mobile users, but we plan to add a setting to Camfrog Server in the future so you can allow in mobile users if you want.

We are excited to announce Camfrog Voice Chat 1.0 for the iPhone has been submitted to the Apple App Store.

Our Camfrog Voice Chat 1.0 version allows you to see your contact list, IM your friends, send snapshots, voice chat privately, join chat rooms, and voice chat and listen in chat rooms.  I have been voice chatting in the chat rooms over the past few months testing and it’s really fun, plus it even works over 3G and Edge.

Why no video? We decided to release this first app version as soon as possible then if it’s popular and gets good feedback we will consider adding private one on one video, then maybe eventually chat room video.  We’ll keep you updated and let you know when the app is accepted and available to download via the Blog!

Camfrog Client 5.5.236 for Windows is now available for Download.

This software updated uses our new Camfrog video viewing and broadcasting technology.  This new video technology allows you to view more video windows with significantly less CPU usage and it also gives us an opportunity to further improve our video technology more and more as time goes by.
